Alex Gittelman
Alex Gittelman is a sophomore at the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. He is currently pursuing a degree in Jazz Education. He plays with various ensembles at Temple, including the Symphony Orchestra, Big Band, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and Marching Band.
Besides being a member of Del’s Groove, he is currently a member of the latin group "Elvis Bonilla Y Su Orquestra" and frequently plays lead with the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra.
In high school, Alex was a member of the Philadelphia Grammy Jazz Band for two years. He was the lead trumpet in the PMEA All-State Jazz Band for two years, and the lead trumpet of the All-Eastern Jazz Band in 2005. Alex is a member of CMENC and the secretary for Temple’s chapter of IAJE, as well as a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Alex has performed with various artists, including Clark Terry, Joe Wilder, Carla Cook, John Faddis, Lew Soloff, and Jimmy Heath. Alex currently studies trumpet with Eric Schweingruber and Terell Stafford.
